I have another beautiful wedding from New York based photographers, Lennon Photo, on display today. This DIY wedding has a chic yellow and grey color scheme and a whole lot of unique style. And even despite the two inches of pouring rain, fun was had by all. Melissa even rocked a pair of adorable grey and yellow patterned ModCloth pumps – which I just absolutely love!
From the Bride, Melissa:
How did you meet?
Michael and I both met each other at a restaurant we both worked at. After both leaving our jobs at the restaurant, a few years later we re-met at the same restaurant purely by chance. We’ve been together ever since.
Tell us a little about your wedding:
We chose Long Island because that’s where I grew up. I couldn’t see myself getting married anywhere else. After Mike and I had dated for a few years, college ended and I had moved back to Long Island from Connecticut. We used to take the Port Jeff ferry every weekend to see each other. We basically lived on that ferry for a year so it was special to us to have our wedding in Port Jefferson, a town we’ve spend so much time in together.
DIY is not only cost effective, it’s fun! I love creating things. I sometimes find myself searching the internet for ideas and saying to myself “I can totally make that!” It’s rewarding to hear people come up to you and say “Where did you get these?” and you can respond with “I made them!” Everything was made by either myself or my mom and we had a blast creating everything together!
Do you have any advice you would like to share?
I have 2 pieces of advice for Brides that are thinking about creating the decorations for your wedding. Take your time and stay organized.
