Amanda & Anthony had an absolutely beautiful fall wedding last October in New Haven, Connecticut with pops of red wine hues, accented in gold with touches of mauve & violet – and Candace Jeffery Photography is sharing some of the gorgeous moments captured from behind the lens that day. (I say “some” because I just didn’t have enough room to share them all, but I wish I did because this fall wedding is just stunning!) Amanda & Anthony nuptials took place at Yale’s Battell Chapel, and they held their celebration at the stately New Haven Lawn Club. Amanda, being a graphic artist, designed all the stationary for the event with a chic gold leaf design.
From the Bride: How did you meet?
Anthony and I met at a mutual friends Memorial Day party in 2006. We had such a wonderful and exciting summer dating. When the summer ended I went back to college to finish my senior year, and thought we may drift apart. Anthony came up every weekend to visit me in New Hampshire. Even in a couple crazy snowstorms! I knew then that he was the one!
Did you do any DIY projects? If so, what….
Yes, I am a graphic designer and decided early on that I wanted to design my stationary. I designed our invitations, programs, place cards and menus to match. I wanted the invitations to be unique with a gold leaf wrapped with twine. Gold pumpkins were a must for my décor. I spray painted baby white pumpkins for the cocktail room, and around the flower centerpieces in the ballroom. I loved how it added that modern fall element without being too traditional.
What is your favorite wedding day memory?
My favorite memory of our wedding would be our first dance. Walking into that gorgeous ballroom gave me chills. I was so excited! There were over 100 sets of eyes watching us, but I only felt one. I remember the whole time we danced I couldn’t stop smiling. What a wonderful feeling. I wish I could relive that day; there were so many wonderful moments.
What advice would you give to a bride currently planning her wedding?
There are two pieces of advice I would give. Accept that you cannot please everyone. This is your day; make it about you and your husband. Soak every moment in, all of that planning flies by in just hours!
Secondly, Professional and trusting vendors were so important in my planning process. If you have the time before your wedding, do research. We chose an incredible venue, and such a great team of vendors that I had no need to worry the day of.
