I love late September weddings, don’t you? Really what better time to have a wedding than on the cusp between summer and fall? The temps are pleasant, you still have remnants of summer, and there is a slight glow of fall present. Because of this, I can see why Caitlynn and PB and choose to have a late September wedding. This time of year is just perfect for a yellow- themed rustic barn wedding like theirs, and the images captured by LeAnna Theresa Photography simply proves just that.
From The bride, Caitlyn:
How did you meet?
Pb and I meet Memorial Day weekend in 2010 at the SeaShell Bar and Restaurant in Beach Haven, NJ on a ‘Thunder Thursday’. I was sitting at a table outside with my girlfriend Ashley and we just caught each others eye! He came up to me and began to flirt, but I was playing hard to get. He got my number and we went on our way. The next two, three weeks, he tried to get together with me and I still just played hard to get until one night we met up and just talked for hours! I knew I loved him that night (but didn’t tell him until months after of us being together he finally said it to me first lol) we’ve been inseparable since! He’s my best friend, my husband, the father to our amazing three children and I’m extremely blessed to have the relationship we share!
What were your Wedding Planning Inspiration and Style?
PB and I knew that we didn’t want the typical Jersey venue wedding. We are so easy going, go with the flow, outdoors type of people! So I went to google and just starting researching unique wedding receptions and started falling in love with barn weddings! We found a barn that was owned by Holmdel township that only started having weddings there since 2011 and we really just fell IN LOVE with the place. It was a completely DIY wedding, but I knew it would make it that much more from the heart so we went that way!! We went with the rustic barn theme wedding.
PB, I and some close friends helped make everything, from the pallet bar to the wooden arbor we stood in front of during our ceremony. We had to rent a U-Haul for the weekend so we could bring everything up there and back. We spent endless nights creating every detail for the wedding of our dreams! I call it our Pinterest wedding lol!
What are some of your favorite memories of the day?
Some of my favorite memories of that day were when PB and I did the first look. We both wrote cards to each other and we read them back to back with the barn door between us. And finally seeing him and how handsome he looked, and how he looked at me in my wedding dress, it was breathless!
Another great moment was when my mother and father got to walk me down the aisle. It was so important to me to have my two biggest supporters and best friends to give me away to the man of my dreams! But one of my favorite memories was when PB and I danced our first dance. We danced to ‘God gave me you’ by Blake Shelton. We sang the song to one another, danced and stared into each others eyes like no one was around. It felt like a fairy tale to say the least!
Do You have any advice for other brides?
One big and best tip I have for other brides is to just enjoy YOUR day! I know you have a million people who traveled to come see you and you would love to sit there and have conversations with each and everyone, but you only have a short time to enjoy your one and only wedding day! Be selfish, and spoil yourself with your new husband! Enjoy your day to the fullest! Stay on that dance floor with you new hubby and the guest will know where to find you!
