Be prepared for some eye-catching color and whimsy, because Sarah & Todd’s West Palm Beach, Florida wedding captured by Crystal Bolin Photography is overflowing with brilliant spectrum’s of color & fun, sweet, whimsical details.
When the couple stumbled upon National Croquet Center they knew they had to check it out, and when they did they feel in love- they found their wedding venue. From there they selected the dynamic duo, teal & red, as their main colors and let their florist Simply Flowers create, “A visual wonder of color”. And goodness did they ever! There is literally brilliant color everywhere for the eye to see in the form of fragrant petals. The couple showed even more of their playful side with a heart shaped ring pop ring, and a sprinkle covered wedding cake topped with a Hello Kitty figurine.
From the bride, Sarah:
How did you meet?
Todd and I met at an ice cream shop which is funny because he can’t eat ice cream! The same day we met we went on our first date that lasted 6 hours and gave us both lobster red sunburns and me blisters from my shoes! It was both the best and worst date ever!
Who proposed marriage and how did that proposal happen?
Todd proposed while we were on a hike. He just got down on one knee and asked if I wanted to be his best friend forever! Of course I said yes! It wasn’t anything magical or fairy tale. It was just us.
Describe your bridal attire:
My bridal outfit, well I didn’t want to look like a cupcake. I had found my dress online and I loved it because it just spoke to me. I love polka dots and I like simple. So, when I saw it, it was love at first site. The shoes, well I had a different pair picked out, but they were so popular they sold out every where. Kinda broke my heart. After a long search I found the red shoes. I love red shoes. I mean LOVE red shoes. So, it was a natural pick. Plus bonus, I can wear them again! Hair, well I don’t really know, I told Tosh, my amazing hairstylist to do her magic and she did. Make-up, I used Cindy Cohen. My lovely mother in law got her for me. I didn’t want anything boring, so I asked for something fun. And a red lip, because it is classic!
What inspired the wedding day outfits?
What inspired Todd’s out fits? Simple, he loves teal and I love pink.
The bridal party, I told them to wear whatever they wanted. The bridesmaids decided they should wear a silver grey. So I told them OK. Go for it. I’m pretty low maintenance, as long as they liked what they wore and looked nice I didn’t care.
How did you decide on your venue?
The venue we found in one of those little bridal books while Todd was getting fitted for another wedding! We thought, hey croquet, that’s different, let check it out. When we went there we fell in love with the charm and the amazing people! It was a no-brainer. Scott was absolutely amazing and such a help!
Where did you get the inspiration for your color palette and design?
Colors, we wanted the main colors to be teal, Todd’s favorite color and red after our favorite soccer team, Manchester United!! After that we let our amazing florist at Simply Flowers, create a visual wonder of color! ( Which she did an insane job of!)
Describe your decor:
The decor, well we like nature and color. We had gone to Orange Blossoms Floral because we liked their style. But after our first consultation I guess they didn’t like us because they never returned our calls! So, I went to the old Internet and looked around and found Simply Flowers. When we met with Darnis (the owner) we told her we wanted nature, color and I really wanted the bistro lights. After that we told her to go for it. Every now and again I would give an input, but honestly it was all her. She took the very little direction we gave her and turned our wedding into a magical dream of color and beauty!
DIY projects, not much. I painted the table numbers and drew the invitations. Then Todd did the rest on the invitations. That is really it.
Three things you’re glad you did:
Three things I’m glad I did? Marry Todd. Have an amazing brother and sister, and parent-in-laws who helped us make this wedding possible, and assembly an amazingly perfect team to help create this lovely wedding.
What are some of your favorite memories of the day?
Memories? Well everything. I can truly say the wedding was beyond perfect. We were surrounded by beauty, had amazing food and cake, we kept it small so we only invited the people we truly loved. So it was so nice to have them there. Unfortunately some were not able to come due to illness or no longer being with us. But we managed to include their spirit. So the memories were the love. Does that make sense?
Do You have any advice for other brides?
My advice? Just have fun. It is a celebration of your love with the love of you life. Plan a wedding you and your future husband wants. It’s your day. Trust me, we made some people unhappy along the way by not inviting some people, but it was OUR DAY. Celebrate your love, create a day that makes the both of you happy and forget the nonsense!
