I know we are not that far into winter by I’m so ready for spring already! But since that is far off the horizon doesn’t mean we can’t use a little visual inspiration. Rebecca & Devon’s late May spring wedding, submitted by Continuum Wedding Photography, is just what the doctor ordered. This California, Leo Carrillo Ranch, wedding with its pink and blue hues is just a lovely reminder of days to come.
From the Photographer: From the beginning, Devon & Rebecca knew they wanted to host a wedding that was a reflection of their personalities. Both with a simple, elegant style the Leo Carrillo Ranch was the perfect venue. With it’s amazing landscaping and homey vibe their reception was reminiscent of a backyard BBQ. Rebecca is from South Carolina so she knew she wanted to add a few southern touches to her wedding. From her sweet tea lemonade signature drink to her cowboy boots, the wedding oozed of southern charm. Rebecca also choose simple details for her wedding such as burlap table runners, mason jars filled with babies breath, and homemade jam for guest favors.

How did you meet?
Devon and I met on Match.com- it was my first ever online date. Yep, Devon was the only date I went on, the date lasted almost 8 hours and we began dating seriously after that first meeting. A friend at work gave me a “gift” subscription for my birthday, and we went on a date less than a week later…basically, she got me a husband for my 26th birthday. She surprised us at our wedding by printing out the first email Devon sent me and framing it for us.
What was your Wedding Planning, Inspiration and Style?
We planned the wedding together (hooray!), and decided we wanted a “Southern” California wedding. I’m from South Carolina and I wanted that influence in our design and throughout the day. We had Southern food, used Southern music (classics like Sam Cooke’s “Nothing Can Change This Love” as our first dance and Otis Redding as our recessional song). I wanted to also feature how beautiful the flowers in bloom at our venue, Leo Carillo Ranch, were so we used white linens and burlap table runners. And I asked my bridesmaids, who are all so different looking, to choose their own coral or pink dress and my mother-in-law and I made turquoise jewelry for their gifts to wear on the big day.
We used the California-Carolina theme in our program design, and on our place cards. My sisters-in-law and mother-in-law were huge helps- they are all talented artists and designers, and we made so much in preparation for the wedding. It helped save us money and made everything feel special and personal.
It was also important during the wedding for me to honor and remember my mom, who died in 2007, in as many ways as possible, since I was so sad she couldn’t be there that day. I used her photo in a pendant on my bouquet, and used a verse from Ruth that she had wanted to use in her wedding to my dad as a reading during our ceremony.
What was your Favorite memory of the day?
We had so many good memories, especially on the dance floor! But I loved our ceremony and the speech my dad gave. He spoke about my mom, and about Devon asking him for his blessing before he proposed to me. We were so lucky to have a lot of family help in planning and DIY projects, and we really got to enjoy the day with our family and friends.
