I’m extremely partial to beautiful, sparkly, dresses and soft color palettes, so when I viewed Ashton & Dylan’s pretty pink southern wedding, sent my way via the talented Brandy Angel Photography, I knew it was a must share – now! Ashton’s wedding gown from bridals by lori is absolutely stunning, and goodness does it sparkle. Her bridesmaids in light pink and baby blue look so pretty and gracefull in their tulle gowns – which also happen to have sparkly bodices – and all the ladies carried bouquets dripping with greenery with white and pink blooms from Le Petit Jardin. Wanting her groom and his groomsmen to standout, Ashton went with slate blue tux’s paired with brackish feather bow tie’s for their attire. This sweet couple said their I Do’s, with their own hand written vows, this past November at The Variety Works, Madison, Georgia, and we just happen to have some of the highlights of their day below.
From the bride, Ashton:
How did you meet?
Dylan and I met Thanksgiving week in 2012. Dylan told his mom he had seen me at one of our brothers soccer games and wanted to meet me. My mom sent me a picture of his abs and I had to meet him too. So, we went on our first date that thanksgiving week & after our first date he told me he loved me!
Who proposed marriage and how did that proposal happen?
12-22-2015: We were on Christmas Vacation in West Palm Beach and Dylan took me out on a boat ride on the Intracoastal and took me to the bow of the boat. There are no side railings on the bow so I was terrified. Dylan kept trying to get me to stand up so the captain could take our picture. It took him an hour to get me to stand up and as soon as I stood up he went to his knee and asked me to marry him. I said yes & playfully punched him the arm! It’s all on video!
How did you decide on your venue?
I was looking online for different venues and came across Variety Works & loved all of the pictures! I scheduled an appointment to go and look at the venue & as soon as I walked in I knew that is where I wanted to get married. It was the first and only venue I looked at. I loved the romantic setting. I wanted my wedding to be in the evening and this was the perfect place for it with the chandeliers, candles and old barn like building. It was like having a barn wedding without the barn and I loved that! Very Rustic !
Where did you get the inspiration for your color palette and design?
If you know me, you know I love pink. I wanted a lot of soft/pastel colors in regards to my bridesmaids and maid of honors dresses, which were light pink and a baby blue. For my flowers I looked a lot on Pinterest and loved the rich colors of pink, whites, purple, and lots of greenery! I didn’t want Dylan & his groomsmen to be in the normal black tuxedos so I chose a slate blue and everything just went so perfect together color wise. I loved it!
Three things you’re glad you did:
1. I am really glad we had the live painter, Chris McDaniel. That was something a lot of our wedding guests had never seen before and really enjoyed watching him paint throughout the reception. The finished product was incredible.
2. I am so glad Brandy Angel suggested us doing first look pictures & that she did our pictures in general. She is absolutely incredible and beyond talented. She captured every special moment throughout our whole day and I get to relive the fairytale over and over again! I am so glad we chose to have our day videoed too. Wes Brawner did such an amazing job and took different clips from the day and made the most incredible video which also allows us to relive our special day over and over again!!
3. The food was absolutely incredible and service was incredible . Hallie Jane Catering out of Madison, Ga My cakes were absolutely beautiful! We had Dylan’s groomsmen cake at the rehearsal and it was a yeti cooler with Dr Peppers in them ! It was so cool and tasted so good! Also, I designed my wedding cake with a different design for each layer and it turned out absolutely beautiful! They both tasted so good too! Debra Adams made our cakes !
What are some of your favorite memories of the day?
My favorite memories would have to be our first look pictures. Dylan was so sweet and it was such a beautiful moment I will never forget. I also loved that Dylan and I wrote our own vows. It meant so much to us both to be able to express our love to each other through our own words & promises. I never thought I could love Dylan more, but in that moment I proved myself wrong because a whole new world of love came crashing over me.
Do You have any advice for other brides?
The best advice I could give to another bride is to get a wedding coordinator !!! My mom and I planned absolutely everything and it was a lot of unnecessary stress that could have been avoided. Also, when people tell you that you’re not going to remember the day, believe them!!! Make sure to have the best photographer and videographer so that they can capture moments so you can relive it over and over again and remember moments you might not remember. I cry every time I watch our video and look at our amazing pictures!
