When I first reviewed Audrey & Casey’s wedding, photographed by Brandon Shafer Photography, I was instantly intrigued. I never imagined orange and teal would make such a gorgeous winter wedding color scheme. I was truly taken back – bridesmaids in teal, bouquets of burnt orange and white flowers and the groom and groomsmen in grey suits and orange ties – vibrancy with a little bit of spice. What a great combination for a winter wedding!

From the Bride, Audrey:
How did you meet?
Casey and I actually met in high school, he was two years ahead of me. We didn’t start dating until I was 20 and he was 22 when I was in college. We had always stayed friends but it was actually my mom that pushed for us to go on a date haha, well I guess it worked out because we ended up getting married!
What were your Wedding Planning, Inspiration and Style?
As far as the planning I did the majority of it on my own from searching online at different locations to have the wedding and reception. I did a lot of searching on Pinterest for DIY things to pull the day together by decorating ourselves. I got my inspiration and style from a lot of the DIY weddings I looked at on Pinterest using old vases and spray painting them to make my colors and using old blue ball jars as well with different sizes and shapes but it all came together so beautifully! The style we were going for was kind of modern meets vintage if I had to call it something!
What are some of your favorite memories of the day?
Some of my favorite memories of the day are from the morning of getting ready with all of my bridesmaids and mothers in the bridal suite, having the first look with Casey, and of course the dancing and fun at the reception! We had a packed dance floor all night which made the atmosphere for everyone very energetic.
Do You have any advice for other brides?
Advice I would give to other brides would be to do research on alot of venues to find what fits for you and your budget, we were able to bring in our own caterers which helped with cost! I would also say to relax, take things as they come, and don’t sweat the small stuff, people won’t know all the fine details that seem so important! Also, let others help you!! If friends and family offer to help, let them! As for my bridesmaids dresses I was able to get those through David’s Bridal in their clearance section…it was hard to find all the right sizes for everyone, but after searching and being open to different styles I found one that had all the sizes needed. I actually found my dress at a consignment shop in Jenison for about half the price it would have been in the store new…and no one could tell it had already been used! I actually had the lady offer to buy it back from me again it was so beautiful!
