The stone chapel in which today’s couple, Lena & Joey, said their I – Do’s in, simply has me charmed – so picturesque and so quaint. And with an outdoor reception on a pavilion looking over a lake mirrored by sun –kissed trees, I’m even more charmed! Their lakeside wedding captured by Brandy Angel Photography, gives true meaning to “timeless classic” starting with its navy and sunny yellow palette and its simple elegance style.
From the Bride, Lena:
When and how did you meet?
Joey and I met in 2012 in college through a service fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega.
What is your proposal story?
He took me up to Chattanooga, TN on February 15,2014, for what I thought was a late Valentines date. We went to the aquarium and dinner. After dinner, he asked if I wanted to take a walk across the Walnut Street Bridge. All I remember was being extremely cold, and when we got half way across he turned around so I thought we were going to go back to the car. But, he got down on one knee and proposed.
How did you decide on your venue?
A friend of mine told me about his sister getting married at Rock Eagle. I had actually been there on a field trip in elementary school, but I didn’t remember a whole lot about it. My mom and I went to look at it one day and I fell in love with the small stone chapel. It was very simple and intimate, and the pavilion was great because it overlooked the lake.
Where did you get the inspiration for your color palette and design?
Blue is my favorite color, so I knew that was going to be in the color palette. Honestly, I saw a lot of blue and yellow weddings on Pinterest and really liked how they went together.
Three things you’re glad you did.
– The number one thing I’m glad I did was ask Chasity Burroughs to be our wedding planner. She took so much stress off us and made everything look amazing.
– We also stayed the night before in the cabins, so that morning we were not running around trying to get everything packed up and get there.
– We did a first look before the ceremony. It was great because it was just the two of us and it made it very special. We were also able to get a lot of the pictures done before the wedding, so guests were not waiting on us at the reception for too long.
What is one moment from your wedding day that you can’t stop thinking about?
I can’t stop thinking about how happy and relaxed I was walking down the aisle towards Joey.
If you could offer one piece of advice for engaged couples planning their wedding, what would it be?
Try not to stress. I know it’s easier said than done, but it all goes by so fast you won’t remember every single detail that you stressed about earlier.
