Jessye & Tom’s navy & green country chic/rustic wedding is a true southern classic complete with a beautiful bride in a stunning off-the-shoulder lace gown, a dapper groom in a timeless grey suit, a Southern Baptists church wedding, and a reception amidst a private country setting. Through the lens of their cameras, Brandy Angel Photography, along with second shooter Crystal Pittman Photography, captured all the love, laughter and beauty of the day.

From the bride, Jessye:
How did you meet?
I met Tom on Lake Oconee several years ago. He was my brother’s friend from college so my brother invited him to the lake for Memorial Day weekend. The rest is history.
Who proposed marriage and how did that proposal happen?
Tom was on a job in Puerto Rico for several weeks last July. Tom convinced me to to fly down for few days and enjoy the resort he was staying at. One night after dinner and drinks in Old San Jaun, Tom pulled out a ring and asked if I would marry him. Of course, I said yes!
Describe your bridal attire:
I wanted classy look for my wedding day. I had always envisioned myself in a lace dress with straps, and that’s exactly what I got. At the boutique, I decided to add the beaded belt and veil to add a little bit of pizzazz. For my makeup, I chose a smoky eye with neutral lips and cheeks.
What inspired the wedding day outfits?
After looking at bridal books and Pinterest, I liked the look of long gowns with suits. I did not want a formal look so pairing the suits with the long gown was perfect.
Did you do a First Look before the ceremony?
Tom and I decided to have the first look before the wedding because we wanted a private moment out of the spot light. I am so glad we had that moment together and believe that it help calm my nerves.
How did you decide on your venue?
Since I was a young girl, I have always wanted to get married in the church I was raised in. My reception venue was the private country setting for we were going for. The site features has an enclosed pavilion, 16 bedroom lodge, fishing ponds, and a pool. The lodge was a nice and relaxed place for our out of town family and wedding party to stays for the weekend.
Where did you get the inspiration for your color palette and design?
I have always loved the way navy and green complimented each other. The colors also lend themselves to the country, rustic look I had envisioned.
Describe your decor:
My decor was country, rustic. We used farm tables with lace runners for the accent tables. Our guest tables had votives with green peas and a flower arrangement or a lantern with a candle. I used antiques I found around the house and antique stores as accent decor.
Three things you’re glad you did:
- Have live music.
- Eat before going to the reception.
- Taking pictures before the wedding.
Do You have any advice for other brides?
Take time to enjoy your day! The day goes by so fast and can be stressful. Hiring a day of wedding coordinator helped make the day relatively stress free and allowed me to spend more time with my bridesmaids and friends.
