I love fall weddings, don’t you? Nature provides so many spectacular hues seen through autumn foliage, and late blooming floral, that merely the backdrop of these splendid colors can truly set the tone for a fall fête. Often time’s couples think that since they are having an autumn wedding they have to stick to the classic fall-inspired colors, like orange, yellow and red. Morgan & Rob’s elegant fall wedding, at the Antrim in Taneytown, Maryland, is a fantastic example of how beautiful a fall wedding can be even without the traditional fall colors. Their chosen palette of black, ivory, blush pink, gold and champagne is truly an elegant combination that works anytime of the year, even in the autumn months.
Kirsten Smith Photography captured all the gorgeous moments of Morgan & Rob’s special day-take a peek and don’t forget to read the bride’s comments at the end of the post!
From the Bride, Morgan:
How did you meet?
Rob and I met through a mutual friend (who happened to like Rob). Unexpectedly Rob and I discovered we had feelings for each other and started dating! I was sixteen and he was eighteen. I am still good friends with that girlfriend of mine today. 🙂
What were your Wedding Planning, Inspiration and Style?
I really wanted something classic. I originally wanted my girls to wear champagne dresses, but I also wanted them to find their dress wherever they liked that fit their style and budget- so I went with black because it would be easier for them to find. I didn’t see most of their dresses until that day and it worked beautifully. Our colors of gold, ivory, pale pink, black, and champagne I thought would flow nicely together and give our day an elegant feel. I also wanted to pick colors that I know I would still love ten years later.
What are some of your favorite memories of the day?
I woke up at 5 am at my parent’s house and got fully dressed in my gown, veil, shoes, and jewelry and just sat in my room. I was beyond excited that the day, the day I been imagining since I was so little was finally here- I also cried when my reception was over! Haha
Looking out of our window in the bridal suite, seeing our guests arrive, and the ceremony set up was also a special moment for me. While Rob and I held hands at the alter, it was such a surreal feeling- a very special moment. And of course- we had an amazing time with our guests dancing the night away! My father-daughter dance was also a great memory. I’m my dad’s little girl- it was a day of happy tears for us both.
Do You have any advice for other brides?
We had a long engagement and I didn’t rush into deciding any major details for a few months. Its good to think about things and make sure it’s really the venue you want, colors, bridal party etc. because you will change your mind a million times. As everyone says, the day flies by- take in every single moment, no matter how small and make sure you both enjoy yourselves- it’s your day!
