Wesley & Katelynn’s dreamy mint, pink, burlap & lace wedding took place at The H Hotel in Midland, Michigan. Their pretty pastel wedding had lots of DIY details: table runners, table numbers, card box, place cards, head table decor, bar menu, aisle bows, honeymoon fund jars, dancing sign & wedding favors.
Mint and pink happens to be one of my favorite color combo’s & all those pretty pastel florals & shabby chic details to me complement’s this soft palette so well. From the Photographer:
Katelynn (a kindergarten teacher) and Wesley (a mechanical engineer) were set up on a blind date by Katelynn’s aunt in high school. She was actually Wesley’s 5th grade teacher! When his youngest brother was in 5th grade and Wesley was 17 she sent home a picture with the youngest brother and asked if he wanted to date her niece. Wesley’s reply was “sure” haha. Katelynn’s aunt continued to play match maker and helped them exchange email addresses. After talking just a few times for about a month her aunt set up an ice cream date where she wanted to introduce them in person. When they arrived at the restaurant she quickly ordered a banana split and said “Oh I’m lactose intolerant. You two enjoy!” and she left them there very awkwardly to get to know each other. It was several months of dates that eventually ended with Katelynn and Wesley being and after dating a decade they were married!
From the Bride, Katelynn:
After long distance dating for most of the 8 years I was anxious to start the next chapter in our lives. I was suspicious of an engagement everywhere we went. Ha! Well Valentine’s Day was quickly approaching and he asked me what I wanted. I told him that all I wanted was Godiva truffles (one of my favorites) and that was it. Since we were long distance I drove down to visit him on Valentine’s Day which happened to be a Friday. When I arrived he asked if I would like my gift and of course I said “yes.” As anticipated a box of Godiva chocolates was handed to me. I opened the box ready to enjoy one of my favorite chocolates but right in the middle was an engagement ring! When I turned around he was down on one knee and asked if I would be his wife. Without knowing it the first thing I said was “Did you ask my dad?” When he said “yes” and told me that my dad had already seen the ring I finally blurted out “Yes!” There was a lot of celebration, phone calls, and congratulations the entire night!
