There are so many pretty colors to pick from for your wedding day, but one has been taking on quite a popularity in the wedding circuit – the color mint. What I love about this sweet pastel hue is it is not just for spring – summer weddings, it can also be incorporated into fall or winter, like today’s featured wedding captured by Blue Martini Photography. This mint, pink and grey fête made for a unique and beautiful wintery palette that I just love.
From the Photographer: Lori and Zach were just made for each other. Each devoted to their faith; each devoted to each other; each devoted to simply having fun and loving life. Lori wanted a winter wedding with warmth, style, and a bit ‘modern vintage’, and boy did she get it. From the moment she started to get her hair styled to the moment she was leaving the reception; it snowed. Beautiful small flakes of winter bliss fell throughout the day to make her wedding a winter wonderland.
From the Bride, Lori:
How did I meet Zach?
I initially met Zach through a college ministry (Cru) at Bowling Green State University — a subtle, yet fantastically prideful, university in Northwest Ohio. However, it wasn’t until years later, when Zach was leaving for India for an entire year, that we decided it was the most opportune time to date. 😉 Zach and I dated long-distance, across the world, for a year and he proposed just several weeks after arriving back home in the States.
Wedding planning, inspiration, and style….
I knew I loved & wanted a rustic feel of some sort with some winter warmth & charm. I’ve also been loving the eclectic look with varying pieces of flair & fabric. I have been loving the minty fresh look for awhile and thought it could look dynamite in the winter. It was a bit risky, though. Many people looked at me like I was crazy when I said my colors were mint & gray in the dead of winter…just two weeks before the wedding, I considered scratching it all and going with long navy dresses. I’m so glad I didn’t. And those leggings on the ladies? Just a day-before purchase, per suggestion of my beautiful & stylish friends, knowing a snowstorm was well on its way. ModCloth & Etsy inspired me along the way, as well…they pretty much planned my entire wedding unknowingly. 🙂
-I actually loved the night before…..spending it with all of my bridesmaids and dearest friends, filled with wine, cheese, chocolates, and all sorts of belly laughter.
-I loved walking down the aisle to this ridiculously beautiful song, “Holy (Wedding Day)”, by City Harmonic.
-We had a live band — made up of our very best friends — playing songs before the ceremony…they also played my processional song live….it was amazing to walk down to the voices of my sweetest friends.
-The record-breaking snowstorm for December in northern Ohio! It was crazy!
-Dancing like crazy people…Kesha’s “Timber,” will forever remind me of our wedding day.
-Writing our own vows…my man had some beautiful words, drenched in humility, loyalty, and love.
-More than anything, I’ll remember my friends & family — they made the day.
Have a blast! Seriously. Laugh lots, pray often, and play like crazy (with your man and with your friends).
