Summer weddings are famous for their vibrant happy hues, and today’s rustic summer wedding, captured by O’Bryan Photography, is just full of colorful, vibrant, happiness.
Amy & Ken were wed this past June at the Timber Line Barn in Buffalo, M. They did all the planning, DIY projects, and even chose the colors together – Amy chose pink & Ken chose green. Their day was filled with smiles & laughter, fun bright hues, and even a fun choreographed dance performed by Amy & Ken themselves. Get a peek into their colorful wedding day below, and don’t forget to read Amy’s (the beautiful bride) comments at the end of the post.
From the Bride, Amy:
How did you meet?
Ken and I met when we were working together at Braums almost 7 years ago. I was 16 and it was my first job. I was young and had long blonde hair, and I had been there for a few months before Ken started. I will never forget one of the mangers I had always used to call me “Barbie” and she said “One day you’re gonna meet a guy named Ken and you’re gonna end up marrying him!” It wasn’t a month after that being said that Ken started working there, and about a month after that we were together and have been ever since!
Picking our venue was one of the hardest decisions we had to make! We wanted a place that we could have both the ceremony and reception (to make it easier for guests) and we wanted to be able to have alcohol at the reception, which surprisingly not a lot of venues allowed. We Found the Timberline Barn in Buffalo Missouri and it had everything that we wanted and then some! First of all, it was beautiful! The owners are amazing and they do everything they can to make it perfect for you! Nicole, one of the owners actually does make up as well so I had her do my make up on the wedding day and I couldn’t have been happier with the results! They have an in-house salon that Kacie Covert runs. She did my hair for the big day and it was everything that I could’ve wished for! I think the best part is that they have a honeymoon suite in the barn! We were lucky enough to have our ceremony and reception in the same place and then got to stay the night there in a beautiful room! It made it much less stressful for Ken and I.
The Wedding Planning:
Ken and I did all of the planning by ourselves. We picked the colors together. I wanted pink and Ken chose green so we ran with it, and they ended up being so beautiful together! We made everything from the centerpieces all the way down to the flowers. I put together the bouquets and the boutonnieres by myself. Doing everything by ourselves I think brought us all even closer than we already were. My girls and I made a trip to St. Louis together to find dresses and we ended up with a really simple summer maxi dress. Kens Grandma “Nanny” helped us hem them up and added an ivory lace sash to the pretty pink dress and they turned out to be perfect! They were beautiful yet still simple like I wanted.
What are some of your favorite memories of the day?
My absolute favorite memory of the day was the look on everyone’s faces when our first dance song stopped halfway through and we busted out in our special dance. Our dance included about 7 different songs! For about 3 months before the wedding Ken got out there in the garage with me and he practiced every single night with me! We picked the songs together, we arranged them in the order we wanted and we choreographed the entire thing. It was such a big hit and it brought us yet even closer!
Do You have any advice for other brides?
My advice for any future Brides out there is just to enjoy your day and don’t stress about the little things. Ken and I knew going into the wedding planning that we wanted it to be fun for everyone attending to represent who we are as a couple. If it doesn’t go absolutely perfect that’s fine, you’re still ending the day married to the man (or woman) that you want to spend the rest of your life with! Ken proposed to me in June of 2013 and we wanted to make sure and give ourselves enough time to plan so that it didn’t stress us out in any way. If that’s what you have to do to make sure that you enjoy your day, then I say go for it! You’re going to be together forever anyways so what’s another year of planning right?
