Dreamy and enchanting, two words that popped in my mind as I looked over Loren & Michael’s bohemian elegance- meets rustic chic wedding, sent my way by the talented Heather Rice, of Heather Rice Photography. Loren & Michael’s beautiful celebration to place at the mesmerizing Chapel and Mayan Courtyard located within the Maitland Arts Center in Maitland, FL. Loren looked like a bohemian princess in a Grace Loves Lace Dress, her hair styled in loose curls, and her bare feet wrapped in ribbons and lace. Their wedding day is truly inspiring from Loren’s free-spirited style, a super gorgeous venue, and a striking red and blue hued reception that is decorated so delightfully celestial.
From the Bride, Loren:
How did you meet?
Michael and I met at a halloween party. We were both dressed as characters of a cartoon show we enjoy called Adventure Time. He was Finn and I was Princess Bubblegum.
What were your Wedding Planning Inspiration and Style?
Since I was a little girl I knew that if I got married,
1. I would not wear shoes, and
2. It would be in a forest or someplace equally magical.
I found our place on a stroke of luck online and fell in love. For the planning, which Michael and I did together, we used Etsy and Pintrest for Inspiration. We decided we wanted something featuring interesting lighting, something with a rustic feel, casual and still intimate. We wanted to make our guests feel relaxed and comfortable. As for the decoration for the reception, we wanted it to be like stepping into a new world. When guests walked through the sheer covered walkway and emerged into the reception, it would be like walking out into something out of a book.
What are some of your favorite memories of the day?
The whole day was amazing. It would be hard to pick one thing or another. Of course when Michael and I walked down after just being married, singing along to our favorite song. When we both mistakenly said I do at the same time! Seeing my best friends and riding my friend’s scooters with my dress flying everywhere. Our fist dance, and seeing his side of the family come out of their shells and party! The whole thing was amazing and anything that did not go perfectly or exactly as planned just gave it excitement and character.
Do You have any advice for other brides?
Hmm.. my advice would be to, 1. to relax! nothing will be perfect, if you accept that and just go with what happens, then everyone has a good time including you! It’s not worth worrying about… truly.
2. Do what you want. I had a lot of pressure coming in from opinionated family members, all making suggestions and in many cases demands. In the end, whether you want to have a dance, or walk down the aisle to a weird song, if you want to wear shoes or a veil, if you want to serve Asian and not Italian…this is for you! Don’t be afraid to express your own opinions and push for what you really want.
