Everything about this wedding is beautiful – beautiful bride, beautiful dress, beautiful venue, beautiful couple. And did I mention how much I love their color scheme of brown, turquoise and blue? Kansas & Michael’s wedding took place at the Hastings Lake Gardens in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada. Their bridesmaids turquoise accessories just pop against their brown hued frocks and the ladies white hydrangea bouquets, peppered with blue irises, are equally striking.Barbara Rahal Photography captured all the beautiful moments of the day, including a surprise visit by the couples sweet little one during the ceremony.
We both consider ourselves to be old souls. With that in mind we knew we wanted our wedding day to be vintage inspired and in one word be just ‘simple’. Outdoor ceremony in a beautiful garden in front of our tightly knit group of family and friends. Reception decor to incorporate the outdoor garden space in which we exchanged vows. Birdhouses, mason jars, birdcages, lace.
Michael and I met through mutual friends. A simple social gathering amongst a close circle of friends introduced us to one another and the rest is history. Since that moment 2 other couples from that circle of friends have also since been married.
Favorite memory of the day would have to be when our son (who was only 16 months old at the time) climbed the stairs of the gazebo where we officially united in marriage and climbed into his daddy’s arms. Completely unplanned and yet by far the most amazing moment. The fact that Barbara captured that moment on film just amazes me.
My advice to other brides and brides to be is to simply enjoy your day. The little things that so many women stress over will not matter in that moment and chances are you won’t even notice when they fail to happen as planned.
