Today I have a fun and colorful Cinco de Mayo, San Antonio, wedding captured by Sharon Arnoldi Photography to share with you all. This wedding is just abundant with vibrant colors. Enjoy!
From the Bride, Jennifer: We decided on a wedding date of May 5, 2012 and the location of San Antonio, Texas, which is my hometown. As it was in San Antonio, on Cinco de Mayo, and I come from a Mexican heritage, we went with a primarily Spanish/Mexican, Cinco de Mayo theme. Hence, the mantilla veil, Mexican pottery & other decor, maracas seating chart nametags, and margaritas. To commemorate our meeting place of Miami, I chose bright flowers and lighting, as these reminded me of the lights along Ocean Drive in South Beach. Our primary wedding colors were gold and eggplant as I felt they formalized my brighter tones of fuschia, bright pink, and lime green. We referred to our style as “fun formal,” as in pretty fancy, but footloose at the same time. We hired the best rated DJ in town who kept the guests on the dancefloor all night, and my hubby loves to cut a rug.
How did you meet? My husband, James, and I met while we were in the Physician Assistant program at Barry University in Miami, Florida. I was a year ahead of him and we met during his admissions interview (in January 2008) for the program. We started dating in November of 2008. I graduated a year before him and moved to Texas to start practicing medicine in Spring 2010. He proposed in October 2010 and he moved to Texas to be closer to me as soon as he graduated in December 2010.
What was your Favorite memory of the day? Tough question! My favorite memory of the day was probably after the reception, when James and I went out to the Riverwalk to meet up with some of our guests, fully garbed in our wedding attire and received many shout-outs from patrons of the local bars and shops who kept “congratulating” us. It was quite affirming to see how positive the general public’s attitude towards marriage really is and how complete strangers were willing to open up and give us a sweet, sincere, little blessing.
Congrats to the happy couple, Jennifer & James, and thanks for sharing your wedding day with us!
