Michelle & Vineet flew off for a destination wedding with their nearest and dearest to St Regis Kauai, Hawaii, for an elegant and romantic island wedding last September, and I’m delighted to be able to share it with you all today! Cobalt blue hues and blue & purple Dendrobium orchids enhanced the tropical landscape of this beautiful tropical wedding, making this one swoon-worthy – simply unforgettable – event. Have a glance into Michelle & Vineet’s Hawaiian Island wedding by viewing Clane Gessel Photography’s stunning captures below.
From the bride, Michelle:
How did you meet? We met during our medical residency at Grant hospital in Columbus,Ohio.
Who proposed marriage and how did that proposal happen? Vineet proposed to me in the Bahamas while walking along the beach in a thunderstorm. It was very romantic.
What inspired the wedding day outfits? Romantic elegance
Describe your bridal attire. I wore a beautiful Pnina Tornai wedding gown from Kleinfelds in Manhattan. It Was an a-line gown with a sweetheart neckline, dropped waist in silk satin with beaded embroidery. I wore sparkling flat sandals from Aldo shoes and Tanzanite and diamond jewelry (earrings and necklace) from Tiffany’s. My hair and makeup were more natural looking for a softer look.
Did you do a First Look before the ceremony? Yes
What influenced that decision and how do you feel about it now that the wedding is over?
I LOVED that we did a first look.
We chose to do this because we wanted our wedding day to feel relaxed and to have plenty of time to spend with guests. So doing most of our pictures earlier in the day during a first look gave us the time during cocktail hour to actually enjoy cocktail hour with our guests and to take pics with our guests instead of being whisked away to do all the wedding photos. Not only did this give us more time but it also gave us privacy to thoroughly enjoy seeing each other on our wedding day prior to the ceremony. It was a very emotional moment and wonderful that we were able to truly enjoy it.
How did you decide on your venue? We wanted our wedding to have spectacular views and did not want our reception to be in a ballroom. The St Regis in Princeville Kauai had the most incredible views we had ever seen. The Makana terrace was a beautiful dark wood restaurant open air overlooking those views for rent for private events. It just seemed like a perfect fit.
Where did you get the inspiration for your color palette and design?
Cobalt blue, white with accents of turquoise just seemed beautiful and to fit well with the tropical backdrop and ocean views.
We wanted an elegant and romantic feel so we focused on flowers and candles.
Three things you’re glad you did:
1) First look
2) Destination wedding at St Regis Kauai (the incredible staff made everything run so smooth. Michelle younger who is the St Regis wedding planner helped organize and arrange anything exactly how we envisioned it).
3) Small sized wedding to keep it more personal and intimate.
What are some of your favorite memories of the day?
Definitely the first look, our beautiful ceremony with personalized touches, the phenomenal food, our exciting Polynesian cultural show with fire dancers.
Do You have any advice for other brides?
Start planning early and do a little bit each day/week so you never feel overwhelmed. If you have the option of a wedding planner to assist you – I highly recommend it!!
