From the Bride, Lauren:
How did you met?
Fran and I have technically known each other since grade school. We both attended St. John The Baptist School in Kenmore, NY; however there is a 6 year age difference between us, so Fran only knew me as “the youngest Barrick sister” for most of my life. Luckily, our sisters are best friends and because of them, we met up and later started dating each other during the summer of 2008.
We chose to have a traditional Catholic ceremony at St. John’s in Kenmore. Fran and I both attended St. John The Baptist school and we are both from families of 4 children. Fran was in my oldest sister (and matron of honor) Christina’s grade. My sister Catherine (maid of honor) and Fran’s sister, Jamie, were in the same grade at St. John’s and have been best friends ever since.
A large wedding was inevitable, seeing as we both have lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins that live locally – and the fact that we both happen to be very close with our families! We also knew we would have a large wedding party. All of our friends in the wedding are lifelong friends. Every member of our wedding party either attended St. John’s, Mount St. Mercy Academy, Bishop Timon, or both. We are lucky to have such great friends for so many years.
The Saturn Club was an easy choice for our wedding reception. The venue went with my traditional, classic style and was able to accommodate our large number of guests. I loved the way the club looked and knew I wouldn’t have to duo much decorating, because it was already so beautiful. I wanted to have dancing outside, and the courtyard there was absolutely perfect. When I was selecting the wedding details such as colors and flowers, I knew I wanted something simple. I wanted ivory, subtle accent colors, and traditional, romantic flowers such as hydrangea and roses. I got most of most of my ideas from Pinterest. I would browse on there whenever I had a free minute and search topics such as “classic wedding theme” and “traditional wedding.” Pinterest makes everything easier! As far as decorating the venue, the planner at the Saturn Club was phenomenal. She was very receptive to creating the exact look that I wanted. We added a tent to the outdoor courtyard because it looked like rain in the forecast all week. I did very minimal decorating overall, I really just added flowers because that’s all it needed!
I was in love with the custom made bow on my wedding dress! The seamstress at M.A. Carr in Orchard Park, NY was able to take a picture from Pinterest and recreate it exactly for my dress. She did an amazing job. My veil was borrowed from a family friend of Fran’s. Fran’s sister, Jamie wore the same veil at her wedding too.
I felt that our wedding day was absolutely perfect! We lucked out and had great weather. The day was everything I had dreamed it would be. There was truly not a single thing I would change!
